The annual inflation rate in Somalia did not significantly change from 6.6% in May 2023 to 6.64% in June 2023. Prices for tobacco and drugs were under significant upward pressure (98.6%, the same as in May); housing rent; electricity (16.4% vs. 13.9%); specifically, electricity, gas and fuel (21.6%); clothing and footwear (14% vs. 4.5%); communication (13.6%, the same as in May); specifically, prices for telephone and telefax equipment (20.8%); health (10.6% vs. 9.5%), primarily medical products (19.8%); and transport (9.1% vs.
In contrast, the rate of increase in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices was substantially slower (0.4% versus 2.3%). Monthly consumer prices remained unchanged.
