London, Friday, 12 August 2022
Wall Street is expected to open on a high note as investors re-evaluate the outlook for monetary policy in light of evidence of lowering inflation.
US stock futures tracking the broader market were up approximately 0.5% on Friday.
Markets began to speculate that the Federal Reserve may loosen monetary policy as a result of a deluge of economic data, including US headline inflation that was lower than anticipated and the first decrease in producer prices in more than two years.
To adjust its tightening plans, the Fed would require additional proof that inflation has peaked, according to a number of policymakers, including San Francisco Fed Bank President Mary Daly.
The Nasdaq, which is heavily weighted in technology, is up 1%, while the Dow and the S&P 500 both had weekly gains of about 1.5%.
